Worth knowing
- Iowa separates the person from the company: individuals are certified ($75 per 3 years) while the business holds the commercial applicator license, renewable only if every employee who applies pesticides is certified.
- New hires may apply pesticides uncertified for only 21 days from initial employment, and only under a certified applicator who is physically present within sight or hearing.
- Iowa’s structural ‘termite control’ subcategory also covers wood-destroying insect inspections for real estate transactions and refinances.
- Application records must be kept 3 years and include start and end time of each application.
